Dragon Con Streaming FAQ

What is going on?

Dragon Con will again be offering an internet streaming version of DragonConTV to members at Dragon Con 2017, available right here on dragoncon.tv.

Who can get access to streaming?

For 2017, we are excited to expand access to Dragon Con streaming by offering to both members of Dragon Con, as well as people who are not attending the convention. Members are able to purchase streaming via the online store, our onsite stores, and in onsite registration. People not attending the convention will be able to purchase access directly through this site starting on August 7th.

How much does it cost?

Members have access to the stream for the low price of $10, while non-members can purchase the streaming membership for $30.

How do members get access?

Members can purchase streaming passes from August 7 - 26 through the Dragon Con online store at store.dragoncon.org. On-site sales of streaming passes will be available in On-site Registration and at the Dragon Con store.

To redeem your code, go to dragoncon.tv and click the "Login" button to create an account, then enter the code as displayed on the screen and click "Activate".

What kind of content will I be able to watch?

The internet stream will be the same content provided to Dragon Con host hotels on DragonConTV (Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton and Westin), aside from a few panels in main programming. The hotel feed features coverage from some main programming panels (live or pre-recorded), major events (Parade, Masquerade, Friday Night Costume Contest, Wrestling), news updates from the convention, and a selection of fan-produced content from our volunteers and fans.

A schedule of broadcast content will be available 1-2 weeks prior to the convention. Note that the schedule is subject to change.

Why are some panels available only on the hotel channel and not on streaming?

Unfortunately some of the guests at Dragon Con have studio agreements that restrict our ability to stream their convention programming.

What hotel ballrooms are featured?

DragonConTV offers live coverage of events from the Hyatt Centennial II/III and Marriott Atrium ballrooms. We also record panels for rebroadcast from the new Hilton Salon ballrooms, Westin Peachtree, and Hyatt Regency 6/7 ballrooms.

When will the internet stream be live?

The internet stream is scheduled to start Thursday, August 31st at 12:00pm and will conclude Monday, September 4th at 2:00pm.

Does this get rid of the free content on YouTube?

Absolutely not. We will still post content to the DragonConTV YouTube Channel before, during and after Dragon Con 2017. You can find guest interviews, convention highlights, full coverage of the Dragon Con Parade, and the usual “comedy” you’ve come to expect from DragonConTV.

During the convention, some of the content we produce on-site will be shown first on the stream prior to it being available on YouTube.

Do I get access to anything after Dragon Con?

Once your account is active, you can access recordings from Dragon Con 2017 for three months after the event, along with a collection of content from past conventions.

What do I need to watch it?

Members: When you purchase your DragonConTV add-on from the Dragon Con store, you will be given a 12 digit code. You can then activate your account with this code at dragoncon.tv/signup.

Once your account is activated, you can watch from any computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection.

What web browsers are supported?

We’re geeks that like new stuff, so in general any modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari) will work fine. If you must use Internet Explorer, only IE11 is supported to take advantage of the latest tools available for live video streaming.
